Lebanon, Oregon

Lebanon Oregon is located in the Mid-Willamette Valley in Linn County. The population was 12,950 at the 2000 census. It is at the junction of U.S. Highway 20 (Santiam Highway) and Oregon Highway 34 (Tangent Street). It is located 109 miles west of Bend (Central Oregon), 8 miles east of Interstate 5, 90 miles south of Portland, 45 miles north of Eugene, and 70 miles east of the Oregon coast. It is also located 26 miles south of Salem (the state capital) and 16 miles east of Albany (the Linn County seat).

The Lebanon Strawberry Festival

Lebanon is known for its world´s largest strawberry shortcake. The Lebanon Strawberry Festival was originated in 1909 and continues to date. It is typically held the first weekend in June.

Recreation in Lebanon

The general Mid-Willamette Valley area offers year-round recreational opportunities including fishing, hunting, boating, camping, backpacking, hiking and skiing. Seasonal activities include bike racing, automobile racing and softball tournaments.

The South Santiam River flows through a portion of Lebanon. The South Santiam River with its public boat landings, riverside parks and two reservoirs provides a great recreation area for all types of activities.

High school education consists of Lebanon High School and East Linn Christian Academy.

Middle Schools are Pioneer School (k-8), Seven Oaks Middle School, Hamilton Creek School, Lacomb School and East Linn Christian Academy.

Elementary Schools are Green Acres, Pioneer (k-8), Riverview and Cascades.
